Well, I tried ...

by Sharon

Well Lady Grey has not settled in with the flock at all!  I feel she must have 'victim' written over her head.  As soon as I let her in with the rest of the flock, the rooster and hen start pecking at her.  Lady Grey shows no resistance whatsoever and does not peck back - she just runs away and sticks her head in a corner and wont come out.

I have decided that this is just not going to work because as the 'newbee' she is just outnumbered 4 to 1.  So I have now made other arrangements.  Lady Grey will have to have her own compartment.  I built a fence for her new yard inside the chook enclosure.  Then I made her a kennel to live in.  She loves it.  She just sits inside the barrel and looks out on the world, with no other chooks to peck at her.  She can see the others but doesn't have to live with them.  She seems very pleased with herself as she sits in her new home.

But then it started to rain and I had nowhere to put the food in a dry place.  So I had to get another barrel and put the food inside there.  The dramas of having chooks!
