The Harlot - open up o ground
by Sharon
As the harlot is thrown upon the ground into the dust she cries out:
“Open up o open up o ground beneath me ... I know the law as well as they do and I’m guilty, guilty, an adulterer ...o will this day never end?”
What do you do with your pain when you find yourself in a place of brokenness, when it seems that the day will never come to an end? It just seems to be going on and on and on and there is no escape. The harlot wished the ground would open up beneath her. When my pain rises up I know that my favourite saying is “I wish I could just disappear”. I had always thought that when my father died I would run away and just disappear. It was my coping strategy for the pain. But when he did die last year, Jesus came to me and showed me what He was doing as my father lay dying. It was sufficient and I remained present instead of just running away and disappearing. How do you cope with your pain when it rises up and it seems the day will never come to an end?
You are invited to come and meet with Jesus at Overflow next Sunday night and allow Him to be present with you in that place of pain and suffering. Allow Him to touch that incredibly painful place in your heart. He is willing. Are you?
