The Harlot - it wasn't supposed to end this way
by Sharon
The harlot is dragged through the city streets for all to see, naked and ashamed. She has so many regrets.
“It wasn’t supposed to end this way but I am guilty and I know it. I’ve got so many plans, so much to do, but now it’s too late.”
Her life wasn’t supposed to end this way! Not like this! In the beginning she’d had so many plans for her life, a life filled with love. But choices had been made along the way. Some she’d made. Some had been made for her. Now here she was. Face down.
I have been watching the DVD Furious Love this week. It is filled with numerous stories of people who have ended up places that they’d never dreamt of when they were young. The one story that particularly grips my heart is the man who ended living at the city dump in Madrid shooting up heroin. He had a family, a daughter, everything ... but he’d lost them all. It wasn’t supposed to end this way, not like this – with him overdosing, losing 10kg, being unkempt. He’d already lived like this for 7 years. He felt that he deserved this because of the choices he had made. It was too late. Minolo told him that no one deserves to live like this, no one! Minolo offered him Jesus.
What about you? Have you made choices that have led you to places you never dreamt of? Broken places filled with disappointment and regret. You know, it’s not too late. There is no pit so deep that you have fallen into that Jesus is unable to get you out. This is why He came. You want a new beginning? Then come and meet with Him afresh at Overflow on Sunday night.
