Selamat pagi Ibu Tromp

"Selamat pagi kelas.  Nama saya Ibu Tromp."  (Good morning class, my name is Mrs Tromp.)  At university I majored in  Bahasa Indonesian (Indonesian language).  I had hoped to make a career of teaching Indonesian at High School.  I had also studied Indonesian history and geography at uni.  However it was difficult to get any teaching jobs in the mid 1980s so I accepted a job teaching Australian geography and history, leaving my dreams of teaching Indonesian behind.  I wondered if I would ever get back to it.  Well today was that day!  I taught my first Indonesian lessons today.  I really enjoyed the day and felt quite satisfied to finally get the opportunity to teach Bahasa Indonesia.  Here's a photo of me sitting in a becak on my visit to Indonesia way back in 1984!
